Spotify Rolls Out New Audiobook Add-Ons for Premium, Family, and Duo Plans

Spotify is expanding its audiobook offering with two new add-ons designed to give Premium users more control—and more listening time. While the rollout is currently limited to select countries, it marks a meaningful shift in how Spotify approaches audiobooks.

Audiobooks+ is now available to Premium Individual subscribers and to Family and Duo plan managers. This add-on gives users an extra 15 hours of audiobook listening each month on top of the base 15 hours already included with Premium. It’s ideal for those who regularly hit their limit or prefer longer titles that don’t quite fit into the standard monthly allotment.

Audiobooks+ for Plan Members brings audiobook access to Family and Duo plan members for the first time. Each member can now enjoy their own 15 hours per month—once the plan manager activates the add-on for them. If anyone runs out of time before the billing cycle resets, they can also purchase a one-time 10-hour top-up.

At launch, these add-ons are only available in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and the Netherlands. Pricing varies by region—in the UK, each add-on costs £8.99. According to Spotify, more countries are on the way.

U.S. users don’t yet have access to the recurring Audiobooks+ plans, but they can already purchase 10-hour top-ups for $12.99. The recurring add-ons, once available, will offer a more seamless experience by automatically renewing each month, allowing for up to 30 hours of listening without having to manually buy more time.

This move is part of Spotify’s broader effort to compete in the audiobook space, and with a catalog of over 250,000 titles, the added flexibility is a welcome upgrade for individuals and families.
